Description:
NEWER UPDATE: I'm releasing a new version as finished. I'm making another wad now, and it should be quite a bit longer than this one. This one has updates to maps 2, 4, and 5. Five is now harder due to a monster spawner, two now has a secret, and map four has an extended part (though I didn't extend as far as I wanted to, I've already started on the next wad). Feedback would be nice, and thanks to any who play!
UPDATE: Released test version. I've still got to expand some of Map 4 and add secrets to Maps 2 & 4, but I'm curious on what you guys think. This is my first (near) released wad, and the levels are quite short, but I'm learning :)
Well, to improve my mapping skills (which still aren't that good compared to most I've seen) I decided to make 5 maps that *should* work with any port (no fancy Zdoom features or anthing). The first two are really short, and the third is just a small boss level, but the four and five will be longer (and five will have a skirmish with the Spider Mastermind at the end).
Status:
Map 01 (Screenshot 1) : 100%
Map 02 (Screenshot 2) : 90%
Map 03 (Screenshot 3) [Boss Fight] : 100%
The next two maps should be done soon, I'd really like some constructive criticizm on the screens and (when it's done) the levels themselves so I can get better :)
It brings me to the good old times. Looks like a classic wad. Looking for.

It looks good. I generaly don't like the Gray textures (except "out in the cold"), but you've done a great job of using them hear. It reminds me of E1M2 without the nukage, and E3M5.
Thanks :) The tiny size will probally hold the first three back (but then again, Map 3 is a boss level, so maybe not that one), but it's mostly for practice.

I'm surprised, a new mapper that doesn't stuff their maps with a bunch of useless ZDoom features!
Shot 1 looks the best imo; shot 3 looks a bit ugly, though. That's a bit of FLAT20 abuse right there, yessir. Straying from FLAT20 use like that would be a good idea. :P
Ya, I figured I'd stay away from the fancy Zdoom features at first, stick with Doom's normal features, and then work my way up into the more complex features (though I'll try not to cram stuff in)
I'll see about retexturing Map 3. Almost done with 4, just need to add some secrets and whatnot (they are small maps). This map, compared to the others, is much harder, because at one point Revanant keeps wanting to kill you and nukage (with lots of damage) keeps you from moving away.
EDIT: Updated screen 3, though I'm guessing it needs to go through approval first. It has more of the theme from Map 1 in it now.
Okay, test version seems to have been approved. I've expanded Map 4 after upload, along with changes to maps 2 & 5, and I'll upload those when finished as final.
Finished version is up, please post comments :) It's terribly short but it's practice.
Incredibly short, but it's decent for some of your first. Keep going, please. :P
Next time make a bigger one. This wad was very nicely done, good balance and average architecture.

it was good and all but...
lvl 3 the boss room is too damn small
other than that good job and make a bigger version
