I'M ABANDONING THIS WAD BECAUSE IT'S BORING, I'M NOT HAVING FUN WITH
MAPPING IT, AND I DON'T THINK PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LIKE EITHER

Story:
May 14, 2137
You are a marine, a tough and fierce marine. You have been choosen to be in the UAC military base...

May 21, 2137
You arrived at the base. You marched forward to the entrydoor, but the gaurd asked for your pistol and you gave it to him. You went throught the scanners and headed forward to the administartion center to sign up to be a UAC security gaurd. You headed left to see a video of the UAC base. You saw at the corner of your eye two marines talking so hid behind the wall and eveasdropped on their conversasion. All you heard from Deimos (marine on the left) was "you'll pay you'll pay!" You headed back to your bedroom.

May 24, 2137
You woke up and headed downstairs to your post and headed for the bathroom. After comming after the bathroom you heard strange noises comming from room #384. You abandond your post to see what was going on. In there you saw a teleporter...

Description:
This wad will be my first wad to be released ever! By some disaster or boredom my maps got ruined. But enough about me time to see what cool things are instored for this wad...

This will now be a JDoom mod

Now when I say there will be use of all skulltag items, I mean there will be use of invasion monsters, skulltag monster, and even use of the score pillars! If there is two screenshots please ignore them, I will get better screenshots for this wad, if there is three then this wad's screenshots have been updated.

The 1st screenshot is bland and poor. 2nd one is bland too but looking kinda better than the 1st. try adding useless detail and make good gameplay.

The empty space for description is for when I went to add a desription and I should've checked to see if the curser was in the empty space I accidentaly hit space and it was added on there. If someone could tell me how to contact the "admin" then I can get there permission to add a description to this wad. Thanks in advance :D . Also thanks for the advice I'll keep that in mind.

Any WAD and Description that you post on WIP (Wads in Progress) can be modified by pressing the MODIFY hotlink next to Add to favorites, that is if it's your wad. If WIP them says that this isn't your wad, log off, close IE, FFOX, or AOL (any Internet browser) and reopen it. Them re-log on to WIP and you should be able to modify it. Once you modify it you must wait for approval from WIP admins, upon such time them will auto-update your wad. Sometimes it takes a day, sometimes an hour. You cannot modify the wad again until Admins have approved the last update. You can modify another wad of your own if you want to.

I think you should abandon the project right now. The screenshots you provided us with look really bad. The first one is just an empty square room with one freaken monster. The second screenshot is about the same except with some cheesey and gay looking portal in the middle.

I don't even know what I was thinking!? The next wad will have a description this time and the same name (not the same maps though). I'm sorry for this sucky work guys. Looks good only thing those rooms need is detail, just cram some detail into it and it will improve.Simply solution all my maps look empty at first with adding detail the maps comes alive :p Just make those rooms less squary put some angles into it then detail them it only needs more effort thats all.

You don't have to blam yourself that much. You're new to doom editing, am i right? Well, the people here LOVE it if you put detail in your maps. Detail makes maps more realistic. People love realistic doom, because it's more fun. It's that simple. The real world is detailed too, lol. Oh and by the way, i give you some advice, first start with normal doom editing, no skull tag, no zdoom, just doom. When you've pleased with what you've done, then release it maybe, or start working on more maps, practice, ask your friends if they like it, and when you get experienced enough, you can make maps for ports. Of course, on the way up, you can, and you MUST make practice maps, that's the key to be popular. :) You can also ask for advice on forums, and you should view popular maps, and get some inspire about what people like.

We don't care how many maps you have. Take a look at those screenshot. The first one isn't even a room. It's just an empty box with a monster in the middle. Take a loot at the second one. It's just a box with a crappy looking block on one end and what's supposed to look like a vent in the ceiling.

Right again Craigs, these maps Suck. I mean fighting a bellphoger and revenant is what map04 was all about. But what fun was that? Both maps with that vent texture is supposed to be an open vent. Dansco I have like 7-8 monthes experience , the only time I get a good map going is if I get a good insperation. Also I'm sorry for eveything wrong here I'll get good screen shots as soon as I can. And I should've checked the curser before hitting space (thats why there's no description) and the administrators havn't approved it yet. But this project shouldn't be over just because I have two retarded maps. I'll get rid of those. Oh and guys this wad will probably take a long time to finish because I'm planing to make 46 maps, or 56 maps depending on what you think. I take the thanks in advance thing because I want to thankyou Dansco for your help and everyone else's,I will keep this project alive. I will throw those maps away and make better ones.

Level 15 of Doom II is called "Industrial zone". Level 16 is called "Suburbs". But I'll keep that in mind gourhaus. Oh and I've decided to replace Doom II's ugly sky with Plutonia's more-realistic sky, I'm also going to use Sky boxes.

I'm taking slow steps here! First I will release five maps for the beginig of the game (beta), then I will release the full first episode (demo), then the second episode (another demo), then the third (another demo), and of course the fourth episode (last demo/another demo), And remember I will let you decide if there is a fifth episode or not. Finally I'll release the full thing (the complete wad) with the 6 secret levels. Right now I'm not sure if I should have doom 64 textures.But here are the episodes...

episode 1 = UAC Base 0237
episode 2 = City
episode 3 = City/Hell void
episode 4 = Hell
epidode 5 = Deathmatch bonus
episode 6 = Secret chapter

I can't make a hub! If you can show me how Strikerman 780 made his Atari Hub, where it doesn't say map26 or map27. Unless I can learn how to do that then there will be no hubs at all! And I still want an anwser for how to record a demo.

Why would it be to long to play, true its alot of work but if you keep the maps nice and short it would be an blast to play imo.

Well I think people would enjoy it if it's long. They have more to play in one setting, get it? If you ask me 46-56 maps are alot more fun then 32 maps. If you two say that 46-56 maps are too much then I'll make it just 46 maps. It has been decided Rein will have 46 maps, but for right now I'm focusing on the BETA wad.

No, don't be afraid, i dont laugh on you. well:

goto http://megaupload.com or http://rapidshare.com/ and upload your wad, and save the link the site gives you. you need to show this link to others, so they can download it.

Now, edit your project, and put the link the site gave you into the download slot. when admin approves, others can download it.

There's also an other way to put up the link... but for that you must have an own website. just make a link hading to the one that megaupload or rapidshare gave you.

It's looking better, but still lacking in terms of detail. A good wad should be like an attractive woman's body: curves in all the right spaces. You should also try to make them look a little less sterile and dull. Add a hole in the wall here, a weird machine there, or maybe even some missing tiles or bricks.

I suggest working with Vanilla before you do anything else. It's not very hard to get distracted from good design by all of ZDoom's (somewhat pointless) features.

It's starting to look better, look at my first wad (The Pool of Death) after Fallen - The Rising comes out. You won't be able to tell that it's the same author. I agree with Craigs, also I disagree with making such a large wad at first, get a feel for the doom builder program.

Imagine this, you are Michelangelo getting ready to make a sculpture; you have the tools lying out before you, the creativity to do it, but you need the knowledge of the tools and the patience to mess up and start it all over.

I took a break after my first wad (4 maps total), and seriously worked with Zdoom. I made about fifty or sixty small maps that tested little effects and scripts. Eventually, I got bored to death and wanted to put these newly acquired skills to work. So, with a new understanding of the tools and a fresh creative look I sat down to sculpt Fallen - The Rising. It didn't start out well, and the early maps are rough, but now my skills are honed and I'm going back to fix all those mistakes and put in better details. The sculpture that started out rough is now a body of solid beautiful stone, if I may say so myself.

I agree with Nuke Em that 46-56 maps is WAY too long. I know you might think people will like it more if there are more maps in the wad, but that's not quite how it works. Just take a look at Odium, Rampage, and Auferstehung. They all had 32 maps and new graphics, but none of them was a success. Only one of them dodged the worst wad of the year cacoward on Doomworld and getting removed. The survivor is still a joke in the community.

The second screenshot is supposed to be you reading paper signed from a random marine (that you'll never meet). And I already said no more 56 maps just 46 maps! I don't want to see anyone posting this...

BTW, 46 maps is still large - more than Doom 2 itself. I think releasing it in sections would still be a better idea, since you can learn from each one more than if you make one big one. Just a suggestion :)
