Craigs, I don't think detail is the problem. This would still look amateurish even if it had lots of borders and terminals everywhere.

Duke Nume, try coming up with more interesting room shapes. Try mixing some 45-degree angles in there, height variations (legitimate ones, not "step up 16 units then back down"), etc. If your layout itself is interesting enough, you can get by with very little "detail" work.

Well the status bar improved slightly but it still looks horrible, I prefer stock doom weapons myself.The map looks okay I think.

Sorry if I'm hurting your feelings but that's my honest to God opinion. If you're just gonna ignore people's suggestions and critism then you might as well stop mapping now.
One more thing: You might want to consider ASKING people if it's ok to use their resources. That includes gun sprites.
