Description:

Lost City Released.

It is a big download 25 MB, but you get

Map01.
Map02.
65 Models.
130 Hires Textures.

Version doomsday 1.8.6.


Set with the console command ď~Ē the view height :

Player-eyeheight 48

Set the object view with options on maximum ( 3000 ).

Drop the zip file in the autodir of doomsday.
Enable models and hires textures on kickstart and play.

Rapport any bugs please so I can correct them.

Enjoy.

Anyways, Sitters, this is easily the best looking city map I've ever seen for Doom and it does seem to have a Half-Life 2 feel. The architecture feels similar.

Thanks everybody, Yes I am trying to make a little bit a half life 2 feeling, but it is of course the doomsday engine , so the level is playing doom2 in a half life world feeling.

eah I agree with evilhomerdoomer on that this is one of the best-looking city maps for Doom. It'll be interesting to see just how much of Half-Life/Half-Life-2 you can throw into this! :D

But I don't like the street lights that much. They look/feel lifeless.

Yeah, this is not to be compared with other works. And even if it were, in some ways this is actually looking better than Xerxes' DoomCity. Of course I haven't seen too many screenshots of DoomCity, but still....

BTW this is looking better and better. The new shots are even more beautiful than the first batch. Why don't you just go all out and make this a full on "Half-Life 2 for Doomsday" mod or something?! I mean you could just make it look and feel like Half-Life 2 as much as possible and maybe fool a few people. You're already between a quarter of the way and half-way there! :P Now add more detail and more realistic lighting and a better list-environment...! :P

Now I must be carefully placing the dynamic lightning, I also want to make a lot of inside rooms in this level, but when I use to much detail and lightning, the map is going to lag.
I hope that before the map is ready the next release of doomsday with bias lightning is there, then the speed is boosting up and the possibilities are much larger.

don't make them strong. that would suck. lots of health is no replacement for doom-era AI.

if you must, give some of them heavy weapons, but they should still die easily- like maybe 5 dead-on bullets for example.

Iíd thinking of modelling a new solder, it is a lot of work. But I think if I can make the level like my idea, without doomsday lag to much ( thatís always the trouble with doomsday, to make a big wad.) , then I do it.

Yeah I make a new monster, be course I split up the level in more maps, so the lag is then no problem any more. No megawad but a miniwad.

Deze modellen zijn niet zo moeilijk en gemaakt met wings3d, milkshape3d, mdl.exe ( freeware en shareware ) en photoshop for the skins.

This models are not hard to make, they are so low poly as possible. Be course I donít like the map is going to lag.

Blizzardson no I donít know a program to convert models from counter strike, Models I make them almost always myself ( sometimes I use free models ), be course the models are so depending on the theme of the wad they arenít there , and they must work very well with doomsday ( low poly). And I like to make them.

And dethtoll it was a little discussion about the textures no big deal.

I have download very nice plug ins for Photoshop and when Lost City is ready. I going to experimenting, making photos, and making my one textures, for real world levels.
And maybe if I like drawing textures, I going to make them also.
But on this moment I have fun with models and levels for doomsday, Its all about having a good time in your spare time, be course it is a hobby and a hobby must be fun and no frustration.

Unbelievable how people are easily anticapating :) IMO, Baptised in Blood used the D3 textures to spice normal, average looking maps. Here however, rips (mixed with original stuff) becomes an integrated part of the map. BIB may function without the D3 texts spice, but Lost City could not.

Yes you right Nmn, but you must also give people the time to learn making stuff for the maps, it is a long process.
For me personal I want to make better and better maps, so I need more and more stuff for my maps ( models etc.), and when I am out creating other games feelings, then Iíd creating new map stiles and feelings that no exists. Then I have the need for new textures and starting to make them. So the final result is a brand new map with only original graphics and models.
But that cost time.
In the time you want reached that level, you must have positive pushes to go on, and that is what the forums do, with positive and negative critics. Everybody want to use original stuff for the levels, but you must have the talent and the skill and the time to learn them.

Did I say that I have a problem with sitters using HL2 textures? No, I didn't. In fact, I rip textures from a lot of games myself, so why would I be complaining about the fact that somebody is using HL2 textures?
