Foreverhood is a senior design project by Brian "skadoomer" Goodsell for his concentration in graphic design and expanded media. Originally basted on the inner depths of his mind, the concept has expanded to that of a memory/dream of a pleasant past overtaken by a destructive force called "the nightmare" bent on destroying this world to obtain the raw energy it possesses. Personified as the interjecting force of self exploration, you play through the worlds as a mutated being. Absent of all of your past, you associate yourself with the innocent creatures of the land, stepping up as their "protector" to eliminate the evil from this land. In the process, you begin to slowly discover just who you are/where and why you are within this strange world to begin with.

Foreverhood is an 5 level mod with a game-play more similar to strife than that of doom. The game features its own conversation system where who you listen to and believe affects where you go and what you learn about the evil, the world and yourself. The player can also choose a side to trust in gameplay, leading to two very different ending depending on who you decide to fight with.

All current artwork (with the exception of the sky) is created by Brian Goodsell. More about the project can be seen at its official website at:

I like the premise, and it looks like it will be well executed! Cool!

aLco13 writes:(new) 10.11.2004, 06:35 GMT+1

some of that sprite and texture work is very cool indeed

Nmn writes:(new) 10.11.2004, 16:02 GMT+1

o_O... Wow..

Tormentor667 writes:(new) 10.11.2004, 18:58 GMT+1

I love these screenshots damnit :)

Skadoomer writes:(new) 10.11.2004, 20:48 GMT+1

the texture work is pretty weak compared to the images i've made using the wacom tablet. Best invention ever.

Jow writes:(new) 10.11.2004, 21:08 GMT+1

It sounds interesting. The second shot is cool, even though I first thought the building had some sort of tower going up to the sky...

MasterOfPuppets writes:(new) 11.11.2004, 00:49 GMT+1

looks twisted, keep up the nice work

Scuba Steve writes:(new) 12.11.2004, 03:56 GMT+1

This has the potential to be one of/the best mods for doom ever.

Shockwav3 writes:(new) 13.11.2004, 16:38 GMT+1

screens 2+3 look very surreal, can't wait for it.

Kristus writes:(new) 13.11.2004, 21:48 GMT+1

This looks very intresting.

Kristus writes:(new) 14.11.2004, 19:50 GMT+1

BTW, why is it so rare that anyone use hires sprites in new zdoom projects?

Nmn writes:(new) 15.11.2004, 00:11 GMT+1

Good question..
/makes notes >:)

Scuba Steve writes:(new) 21.11.2004, 21:25 GMT+1

Because High res sprites take twice as long to draw :P

Nmn writes:(new) 06.12.2004, 23:45 GMT+1

(*)_(*) .. Wow. That third shot completely [tormentor]r0x0rs my b0x0rs[/tormentor]. Can't wait to play this. Levels of excitement dangerously high.

Skadoomer writes:(new) 06.12.2004, 23:51 GMT+1

I'm currently building an underwater level which links to all above ground places. I think i'm going to turn it into a sunken ship yard.

MasterOfPuppets writes:(new) 07.12.2004, 00:09 GMT+1

twisted, orginal, and good looking. good lord he will ruin us all :p

wadaholic writes:(new) 07.12.2004, 03:38 GMT+1

Nmn writes:(new) 13.02.2005, 11:10 GMT+1

This will create a new standard in Doom modding, modding and gaming whatsover. A barrier that will clearly split the good ones and the poor ones in editing. And Skadoomer will join the tops of the good ones. This is the mod I'm looking forward most now and If I wasn't so busy it would be the first thing I'd join straight away.

theWrench writes:(new) 13.02.2005, 19:12 GMT+1

dethtoll writes:(new) 27.11.2005, 21:56 GMT+1

shame this thing's not coming out this year. i need some good news for a change (all 3 of the games i've been anticipating most have all been delayed)

ravage writes:(new) 29.11.2005, 01:25 GMT+1

If this isnt beyond sex, nothing will ever be

BetaSword writes:(new) 30.11.2005, 01:51 GMT+1

Looks like GZDoom (or ZdoomGL) is being used to take those shots... If it is GZDoom, does that mean you're using it instead of normal Zdoom now? Or did you just take the shots in GZDoom to be able to take them from those nice angles and such?

Skadoomer writes:(new) 30.11.2005, 08:26 GMT+1

mainly the nice angles. That and i designed the skybox around gzdoom's full freelook ability (and it looks pretty bitchin in software mode too) so i wanted to show it off. However, I don't plan on incorporating any of gzdooms features into foreverhood.

Kristus writes:(new) 30.11.2005, 16:45 GMT+1

ZDoom will soon/eventually have full freelook aswell though.

Skadoomer writes:(new) 01.12.2005, 00:14 GMT+1

and foreverhood will be prepared for that.

Chronoteeth writes:(new) 01.12.2005, 09:02 GMT+1

Read the recent thread you made on zdoom.org skadoomer. Does anyone have it in, shall we say, lamens terms?

Skadoomer writes:(new) 02.12.2005, 00:10 GMT+1

Incase you havn't herd, heres the legal issue foreverhood ran into recently:
Submitted game to independent gaming featival, only to have it disqualified a few days ago because i do not hold commercial rights to the engine. Zdoom is not GPL, so I can only do so much with it legally. (basically i can't make money off of it) So now i'm looking into what else zdoom forbids and if their is any way to have one standard 'zdoom' lisense that makes all the complicated matters of what your allowed and not allowed to do.

Tormentor667 writes:(new) 10.04.2006, 13:02 GMT+1

Still beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!! :)

patrick writes:(new) 10.04.2006, 13:20 GMT+1

Oh my god i'm so ready to play this.

Bardcat writes:(new) 09.07.2006, 18:22 GMT+1

Can you give us an idea on when this might be released? Take as long as you want, as I'm sure this will probably be one of the better mods. Shit, this will be the best, heh.
