nice details, and REALLY nice slops on the third shot:D

Mancubus II writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 03:12 GMT+1

Hooray! Does this mean we could expect a release soon?

Jow writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 03:13 GMT+1

This is looking cool. Very techy looking. Textures looks good.

Agent Spork writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 03:38 GMT+1

I don't know how ANYONE in this world could possibly say that RTC-3057 looks like crap (except maybe a spoiled 10 year old boy who only plays games that are recent.)

Anyway, Very nice screenshots! Especially the third shot, with the sexy looking windows and such. This project truly is what zdoom was made for (okay, maybe not, but it might as well be).

ellmo writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 03:40 GMT+1

Impressive shadow work, shaviro. Impressive.
And I like the space-ship(station)-theme. I always loved such.

BlackFish writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 07:11 GMT+1

Nice Job. When do we expect a release?

....so that's what rtc-3057 means.

thefwf writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 13:31 GMT+1

Holy crap, this is great, when's it gonna be released?

Nmn writes:(new) 29.12.2003, 16:08 GMT+1

Look at those shades on screen 2 and those slopes on S #3! I love this! This will be a great wad!

deathz0r writes:(new) 31.12.2003, 04:56 GMT+1

Maybe it's just me babbling crazy talk, but those shadows in the second screenshot are very dark. I'm usually very picky about shadows, so it's probably best to ignore what I said.

Hirogen2 writes:(new) 02.01.2004, 20:40 GMT+1

ellmo> And I like the space-ship(station)-theme. I always loved such.
Indeed, this is something with very few gray actually (at least these screenies).

When I say that WAD I get as a beta tester is 46MB uncompressed, you can imagine the remaining screen shots :-)

NoPoet writes:(new) 03.01.2004, 22:55 GMT+1

Shot #1 - I hate the replacement fist. Shot #2 - impressive, though dark, shadows. Shot #3 - straight out of Star Trek, and extremely good-looking it is too.

shaviro writes:(new) 04.01.2004, 12:29 GMT+1

NoPoet: Star Trek? No. That is inspired by the Star Destroyer bridge from Star Wars.

Assmaster writes:(new) 08.03.2004, 17:58 GMT+1

Yeah, Im not a fan of the fist replacement either. But the architecture is excellent. I also love the flat in the third screenshot.

Mephisto writes:(new) 08.03.2004, 17:59 GMT+1

Wow, looking good

SgtCrispy writes:(new) 08.03.2004, 17:59 GMT+1

Yes folks, this is going to kick some serious ass.
I think the fist replacement is good. It looks better when in action.

AirRaid writes:(new) 08.03.2004, 18:00 GMT+1

Not even finished yet, and it already owns your pants. Literally. It has the paperwork.

Virgil writes:(new) 08.03.2004, 23:59 GMT+1

Glad to see RTC-3057 isn't dead or sleeping. Real glad.

EarthQuake writes:(new) 09.03.2004, 05:11 GMT+1

omg wewt, where's the kitchen?

ellmo writes:(new) 11.03.2004, 00:48 GMT+1

Always showing off, eh?

TomD666 writes:(new) 11.03.2004, 22:16 GMT+1

This will OWN.

Doom_Dude writes:(new) 10.05.2004, 13:52 GMT+1

Can't wait to play this. :)

Tormentor667 writes:(new) 10.05.2004, 15:22 GMT+1

OMG DETAILz0r!

ellmo writes:(new) 10.05.2004, 19:34 GMT+1

Oh! But You're using defaul Doom weapons... and monsters... and bodies...
Oh!

shaviro writes:(new) 10.05.2004, 20:43 GMT+1

ellmo: so?

ellmo writes:(new) 11.05.2004, 00:08 GMT+1

shaviro: so?

So... nuthin' just trying to act cool, but I think I failed. Anyways, how much stuff is inside already? And how long did it take as far?

NiGHTMARE writes:(new) 11.05.2004, 02:58 GMT+1

Actually, there are new bodies...

Ellmo: You sure did fail at that! :P
hub1 consists of 7 levels. The wad as a whole will be about 45 megs if not more. It took us 4 years to get where we are today. Level design only began 2 years ago. Taking 1 year to produce the 1-level demo and 1 years to produce the first hub. Development speeds up as more and more things fall into place. It will, for instance, not take another 4 years to complete the wad.

Nmn writes:(new) 11.05.2004, 16:13 GMT+1

Can I ask-what was the most time consuming task? Guesing-graphics?

danimetal writes:(new) 11.05.2004, 16:15 GMT+1

Ive never used ZDoom but looks incredible!!!!!!!.

shaviro writes:(new) 11.05.2004, 19:01 GMT+1

Nmn: Definetly getting all the little details right. That is story and concept details.

Use3d writes:(new) 29.06.2004, 00:04 GMT+1

No way, the current fist is awesome.

Modified sprite graphics didn't come in until very late in development (2 years ago or so), also those are among the first sprites I've ever done for any Doom wad, that's why they are less-than-satisfactory as of now.

I'd appreciate if anyone could point out exactly what they don't like about the modified graphics - one has to learn from mistakes.

Nmn writes:(new) 28.07.2004, 14:18 GMT+1

44 MB? Whoa, this has to be the biggest wad ever (not counting Doom Rampage... ugh). Are You oughta Your minds? :)

ellmo writes:(new) 28.07.2004, 17:05 GMT+1

Uh... I'm gonna play this. Some day. For sure. We need to know how to do RONE, so it'll be even better. But don't force me to download 45mb right now...

No one is forcing you to download anything. And are you then implying that you're going to just rip off rtc for RONE?

Nmn writes:(new) 28.07.2004, 19:36 GMT+1

Mancubus-do You know the meaning of the word-INSPIRED by something great?

shaviro writes:(new) 28.07.2004, 21:59 GMT+1

well don't get "too" inspired.

dethtoll writes:(new) 29.07.2004, 02:53 GMT+1

90 megs unpacked. you guys beat out daedalus' 55 megs, and this is just a single hub. wow.

Nmn writes:(new) 29.07.2004, 17:42 GMT+1

niah niah, I have beaten RTC in 2 days :b
Seriously, the wad is outstanding. The storyline, despite having Doomish elements really spawns tremendous atmosphere. My only complain is that it's.. well.. fucking short :)

EarthQuake writes:(new) 03.08.2004, 03:06 GMT+1
edited 03.08.2004, 03:11 GMT+1

ROFL, I beat it in one night.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot...
This wad is one of the GREATEST things to happen to Doom. My dad (who doesn't like doom because its old) came downstairs while i was playing and watched me for about 30 minutes. When I decided to take a break, he asked me what I was playing, and didn't believe me when I told him it was Doom. I think I heard him utter "Wow" when he walked away ;)

EDIT2: When you guys get done with all the hubs, why don''t you get in touch with id software and see if you can market this thing? It truly looks professional and sorta falls into place with Doom's story.

Ki writes:(new) 03.08.2004, 09:40 GMT+1

I don't think you can market this wad. it's good yes but if it don't use the stuff the normal doom games have (ie it uses zdoom stuff) then I don't think you could market it..

Dron writes:(new) 03.08.2004, 14:22 GMT+1

Amazing wad, nothing can beat this! I downloaded this when it was released and played it all in one sitting. Hurry up and release hub2 already!

Hahaha, ha, do You know how long it took those guys to finish hub1? 2 and a half year. Shaviro said it will take them at least 4 years to finish the wad. I reccomend You play something else in the meantime as You might go crazy from waiting :)
Dron said:

Don't be so sure.

Mancubus II writes:(new) 04.08.2004, 22:58 GMT+1

Who said it would take 4 years? Also, while we're quoting shaviro, he's also said numerous times that the development time for hub2 is not nearly as long, not to mention they're working on hubs in parallel, so not just one hub at a time.

It's nice to have a little healthy pretend competition, but let's not spread lies.

Look at the post here in the middle somewhere.. from 11th may :)
I didn't know development speeds up-good to know as this series is really something to look forward to from everything else.

heh, surprised someone remembers our project :)

Guest3 writes:(new) 07.08.2004, 15:49 GMT+1

Shaviro,
just let you know, link on demo does not work :(

dethtoll writes:(new) 09.08.2004, 11:43 GMT+1

what seems to be the problem?

Virgil writes:(new) 11.08.2004, 02:12 GMT+1
edited 11.08.2004, 02:14 GMT+1

I'm playing this right now. Incredible. Detail is perfect, no misalignments, no mistakes. I'm having trouble finding all the right switches/console to activate (that's the only thing I hate - PUZZLES/SEARCHING FOR THE NEXT AREA!), but other than that I'm severely kicking this wad's ass on UV. The ammo/health/monster balance is dead on.

I think this wad contains the best graphics/music/architecture I've EVER seen. The music, though very well-made by itself, sometimes doesn't fit too well; I find that sometimes it doesn't scare/immerse me enough. The use of slopes is magnificent and I still can't understand some of the special effects and scripts. Those spinning fans.. I think I know how they work, but.. WOW.

Overall, I can only strive to achieve such closeness to perfection. Even if you have a 14.4/9.6K, I still highly recommend you download this.

Virgil writes:(new) 11.08.2004, 06:39 GMT+1
edited 11.08.2004, 06:40 GMT+1

Ok, I've finished it. That fight with the hellknights could've used more atmosphere, maybe a couple of creepy music changes. I've confirmed that gameplay is DEAD ON. It couldn't have been any better.

I tried to open the wad with wintex/nwt. No such luck. I can open it in Doom Builder, but that's about it. Is there any way to access the wad's entries? I REALLY want to know. As developers, how did you guys edit the huge wad? The resources are too good to not be reused; I'm planning to use some of 3057's resources for Claustrophobia II... If that's ok with you guys, that is.

shaviro writes:(new) 11.08.2004, 11:04 GMT+1

We used other lump editors to edit it.
I'm sorry, but you can't use the resources! We want to keep them to RTC-3057. I'm glad you like it, though, and you can look forward to the other hubs later on! ;)

deathbringer writes:(new) 23.08.2004, 01:18 GMT+1

Dont waste your money on doom 3 when you can get this for nothing!

ace writes:(new) 30.08.2004, 01:55 GMT+1

1st, deathbringer: Don't waste money on doom3?!! Are you nuts?!?!! BUY doom3 or else, fool!!

2nd, I downloaded this and on the first level, how do you use the consoles? It's sorta late for this, but still. It says:

STABILIZE PRESSURE

EXIT CONSOLE
HELP

How do you use these so you can progress? I tried pressing up, down, [, ], and enter, and nothing happened. I'm gonna keep trying until I hear response, so please help!

boris writes:(new) 30.08.2004, 10:11 GMT+1

Isn't that explained in the readme? Have a look at the configure controls menu, you can set the keys to navigate the consoles there.

ace writes:(new) 30.08.2004, 22:18 GMT+1

I don't think it was..... are the controls listed in 'configure controls' or something?

ace writes:(new) 30.08.2004, 23:00 GMT+1

nevermind... figured it out.

ace writes:(new) 05.09.2004, 01:16 GMT+1

I'm lost... :(
Great wad, can't wait to see the next ones. I'm going to spend my next month in my dark place until I finally figure out what to do. ;)

I remembered this from seeing ancient screens on DW. Just got ZDoom last night and played through it.

This is the most fun I've had with DooM in ages and better than most commercial games! The architecture still has me in awe and so does the balance, the sound/music design, and the excellent hub design. All the detail is inspiring. :)

Only thing I'm wondering is with regards to the footstep sounds. I hear them change when I walk onto different types of textures but they only play once. Seems strange to hear only one footstep when you change surfaces.

I'll be recommending this to everyone I know who has even remotely the same tastes in FPS games as me. :D

Dancso writes:(new) 12.06.2007, 12:14 GMT+1

Jesse: Try to play it with a bit older zdoom. i think you can get an ainchent release on zdoom's site's main page, bottom of the page. Edit your comment please, it's breaking this site's layout.

Awesome TC, enjoyed the first level set.

I wait for the day that Team Future finishes off RTC-3075. It's a shame that they haven't updated their website in awhile, and that their Doom 3 Project: Doom 3: Phobos has died. It doesn't look very promising, which means that this project too, might not ever be finished.

It's a shame really. It appears Agent Sp0rk has dissapeared too. :| As of this moment, the progress of this mod going any further appears very grim.

soft_haxorz writes:(new) 11.03.2008, 13:25 GMT+1

It's quite sad that this amazing project has appeared to breathe its last. I wish it could be completed, but from the lack of updates and news, I think this project has died. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
