I decided to give this project another try, this time with a different angle.
It will have a story that unfolds as you progress. This time it is going to be a serious story instead of what I had before with Jamaica and other nonsense.

The dangers will extend beyond just whatever monsters you run into. The dangerous terrain of the mountain, where falling can injure you quite badly. Maybe the time of day will also create danger as night falls.

The health/ammo system has been changed, but the final form of this depends on how the project evolves.

There will be different paths, depending on what you find in the world (items, or paths).

The first screenshot is from what I had in the original project.
The second screenshot is part of a library where some or one quest(s) will be done. Just a rough layout for the most part.
And finally, the third screenshot is of a weather module. One of the many things you will find in the mountains.

I really hope I continue to work on this project this time.

Hmm, in that first level with all the fog, you should probably use a foggy sky, unless of course only part of the level is fog. You could have shown us a bit more, but you can do that later.
Other than that, nice idea, and with the very nice reputation that you have for your first map, this will more than likely turn out ggggggreat!

Btw, I got a great pistol sprite that really matches the original pistol.
Message me about on IRC.

oops, that was an early screenshot from before I changed the sky. I just updated the picture so it should be the correct sky soon.

Yea, what you've shown me so far, is great. I really hope you make this as good as your last wad. By the way, when I went into the last cutscene, I was being helplessly hailed by imp fireballs :(
Maybe you should have them spawned after the cutscene is over. You can't really see them anyway.

WTF is that thing in the window of #3?!

chopkinsca writes:(new) 25.03.2004, 05:18 GMT+1

That thing that is in the window is from a SNES RPG.
Maybe it is for the best that I didn't show the sprite I made myself...

I take it shot #3 changed to a kitchen. The fridge seems a bit too tall...

chopkinsca writes:(new) 22.04.2004, 20:58 GMT+1

Yeah, the fridge is too tall for my likes as well, but I'm too lazy to fix it. A lot of the work so far was on decorate actors, and scripting. Therefore the map hasn't changed that much.

Midget imps! LOL! Pretty cool though..

Ki writes:(new) 23.04.2004, 06:13 GMT+1

thats either a very small imp.. or a very VERY large kitchen.

try and keep in mind that that with the players height, objects that are 32 heigh are just under the players view point (a good level for tables and stuff to be at) that should help in keeping some things like that the right size :P

chopkinsca writes:(new) 23.04.2004, 07:10 GMT+1

It's the imps that are small.
I suppose it makes more sense if you see the website for it http://chopkinsca.homestead.com/files/Adventure.html

Or maybe not.

Stacked Sectors rule the world :)

dethtoll writes:(new) 03.12.2004, 19:54 GMT+1

this looks interesting alright. by the way, about that sky in the first pic, i've seen the sun trying to penetrate THICK, THICK fog, and all you can see of it is a a silver circle the size of a pin. but it's visible.

you know, if it's a mountain, it needs snow. not a lot mind you (this isn't cold as hell) just a few flakes here and there. especially if you have a night scene.

EarthQuake writes:(new) 04.12.2004, 01:50 GMT+1

Good luck. I'll be watching this.

soft_haxorz writes:(new) 27.03.2005, 03:59 GMT+1

Sounds cool. I like those stacked sectors in shot 2.
