Description:

After a not-so-succesful 1st release, I expanded my original 22 map wad to a 44 map wad.

Yes, 44 different Deathmatch maps!

See my website, http://shinobi.cl.googlepages.com/ for info and for download the file, which is a bit heavy.

Is case anyone is wondering, most of the textures are from RETRES.WAD, by Team TNT. An excelent piece of work, by the way.

Thanks for all the feedback! And see you all on some next project.

Some gameplay videos are available here:

Those are from the release candidate.

Dude, I really loved your first one! There was a temple map that you showed me before you released it, and I never thought that rockets could be that effective in open space!

I really can't wait for this to be completed, you are a very talented mapper.

I´ve updated the file,... and the description. For now, shinffa2-beta4 is unavailable... try with shinffa2-beta6 for this moment.

http://shinobi.cl.googlepages.com/shinffa2-beta6.zip

It has a weapon mod included now.

Also, i fixed the PATCHES and TEXTURE issue i mentioned... sort of. But now can run this wad on other ports besides Zdaemon. I've tested it on skulltag too. Odamex crashes :S

Dutch Devil writes:22.05.2008, 09:56 GMT+1

Try adding some detail on the ceiling in shot2, the rest looks nice.

shinobi.cl writes:30.05.2008, 09:18 GMT+1

Some new maps done.... a neigbourhood, a void surrounded map (like q3arena ones), a big zero-gravity map (thanks to zdaemon 1.08.06 :-) ), some corrections to the weapons mod (the RL is slightly faster now), a map with a huge 2 level tower in the middle, and more :D This release (by this weekend) will have 36 maps finished. Coming closer to finish ... :-D

And to dutch devil... i think a too detailed sky in this map would be too distracting... besides, i dont like very much the style of those _too detailed_ DM maps. Artistically they are very well done, but to me those details distract too much on a DM battle.

Anyway, thanks for commenting, i need critics and comments. And Serp-i-Molot, i modified the beach map to fixed some unintended exploits... and with faster rockets the fights are even better now.

Hope to get more comments on beta 8, this weekend :) or when the webmaster updates the wads.

I´ll promise to upload much more screenshots next time.

Serp_i_Molot writes:30.05.2008, 18:24 GMT+1

Holy shit! Faster rockets? *Serp_i_Molot blows himself up by misjudging the rocket*

That map will be crazier than ever. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Sorry about the delay, real life bugs me sometimes....

Anyway, wad updated, 37 maps done (map01 to map38, map34 missing), 7 more to go. I´m running out of ideas, so it might end with 40 maps ´only´.

Changes: Rocket launcher fires a little faster now. Chaingun max ammo reduced from 200 to 125 (250 with back pack), because the weapon is a little ´spammy´. Ammo pickups are reduced a bit (plasma, rockets and shells are unchanged). Chainsaw is more lethal now.

Still missing: Names from maps 24 and up (some of them have names but are just temporary ones). Suggestions are welcome. Also, some music is still missing but i´ll take care of if when the maps are all done.

This last beta is named SHINFFA2-BETA9.

Looks amazing! really creative really detailed, I hope to see it soon :)

Congratulations, excellent work dude!

Mordeth writes:18.06.2008, 07:12 GMT+1

You got some very nice skyboxes there. Did you make those sky textures yourself, or else where did you get them?

shinobi.cl writes:18.06.2008, 09:31 GMT+1

I took them from various web sites. I cant remember now, but the sources are credited in the readme (which is not in the current beta, sorry; you'll have to wait to final beta this weekend)

They are not taken directly from those sites to the wad file. I had to edit them, resize them, applied the doom pallete (it was hard to find a skybox that looked nice in the doom pallete), and added some filters later.

If you MUST know, visit my website, http://shinobi.cl.googlepages.com and download the 1st edition of this wad. In that readme are credited most of the skyboxes you see here.

If you see the maps on a wad editor, you'll see that they are not BOXES, but cylinders. That causes an undesirable effect on hardware accelerated Skulltag when you look straight up and down. I'm still looking for a way to limit the look up and look down angle, but for now, there seems to be no decent solution.

Also, be aware that each different sky increases the file size in 2MB.

Dutch Devil writes:18.06.2008, 11:13 GMT+1

Those shots look great nice maps.

ace writes:18.06.2008, 13:38 GMT+1

Very unique locations! Looks good.

Tango writes:22.06.2008, 10:05 GMT+1

Yeah some of these maps look really neat. I'll have to check this out. :D

43 maps, im reserving the 44 for the end :)

(Reserving=Not yet done)

Also: I've setup up a page with the current bug fixes. If you ppl found some new bugs, exploits or other issues, you can leave a message on my Guestbook on the same webpage.

Wow, this looks pretty awesome, I especialy like that rocket launcher btw.

That rocket launcher has its behavoir changed, so is a good counter for the SSG. I like the SSG, but i think is TOO good. In result Deathmatch tend to be an endless battle of SSG blasts. Thats why i modified also the Chaingun and the Shotgun, to make the weapons more balanced compared to the SSG.

Download the wad, playtest it a bit, and send me comments!

Finished. Thanks to all who gave feedback!

Changes: Rocket Launcher is a bit faster. Still slower than the original.
Added MAP44.
Fixed LOTS of bugs. Mostly visual ones.
Added an extra wad file, shinffa2_railgun.wad, that swaps Chainsaws on the wad for Railguns.

If you are interested on this wad, dont forget to see the .txt included! IT IS IMPORTANT, ok?

Edit: Uploaded some videos to youtube

Those are from the release candidate. The more noticeable difference with the final version is the Rocket firing speed, which is faster now.

Bug Fix Release!

Check my web page.

A 3rd edition is planned, only if some things goes as i expect. If not, the shinffa2a.wad file will be the last on the series.

Changes:
More passages on MAP10, MAP34, MAP36, fixed some bugs.

Extra DMSTART on MAP39 (the one that has no spawn pod) left there intentionally.

Changed a few textures... and some other little changes overall. Plus, the file size is lower now :D

shinffa2_railgun.wad can still be used with shinffa2a.wad

Thanks all for reading!

shinobi.cl writes:17.07.2009, 12:07 GMT+1

New bug-fixing version. shinffa2b.wad

* No 'shootable things', to be more autoaim friendly
* Rocketlauncher fires a bit faster
* More Ammo capacity for pistol/chaingun
* Little map changes.
* shinffa2_railgun is still usable, but not recommended
* Use cs_x_rg.wad instead, when Zdaemon supports stacked dechacked patches.

shinobi.cl writes:17.07.2009, 13:53 GMT+1

Si bueno, he estado algo ocupado escribiendo codigo. Mañana se jugara el wad en un TDM en zdaemon asi q estara reweno. Ahi nos vemos. La version q subi fue solo por que mañana se jugara, pero al parecer ira la version original (2a) y no la 2b. Pero bueno... son detalles.

Released version, shinffa2e.wad . Bugfixes, some maps improved, and a nice "map selection" map. Plus a decent way to replace chainsaws per railguns.

Another update, shinffa2f.wad. Little changes here and there.
